Tax Director - M&A

About the role

3M is seeking a Tax Director to lead the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic investments worldwide. The role offers high autonomy and close collaboration with global tax, legal, treasury and finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute tax‑efficient structures for domestic and international transactions.
• Lead tax due‑diligence, identifying and mitigating historical and structural tax risks.
• Review and negotiate tax representations, warranties, indemnities and covenants in purchase agreements.
• Own post‑acquisition tax integration, including accounting method alignment and legal entity rationalisation.
• Quantify tax attributes such as net operating losses and tax basis for financial modelling.
• Manage external tax advisors, legal counsel and valuation experts to ensure timely deliverables.
• Partner with the global tax organisation and corporate development, legal, treasury and finance functions throughout the deal lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Tax, completed before start date.
• At least ten (10) years of corporate tax or accounting experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
