Tax Auditor II

About the role

The Vermont Department of Taxes is seeking a Tax Auditor II to join its Compliance Division. In this position you will help ensure fair and accurate administration of state tax laws while providing excellent service to Vermont taxpayers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze taxpayer returns for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare assessments and adjustments to support correct tax obligations.
• Communicate with taxpayers and their representatives to explain findings.
• Participate in appeals, settlement discussions, and dispute resolution.
• Conduct on‑site audits when appropriate.
