Tax Accountant

About the role

Join a growing organization that is transforming critical energy infrastructure and support the financial operations of a regulated natural gas utility. The Tax Accountant will contribute to tax accounting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tax accruals and maintain supporting workpapers.
• Prepare and file state and local tax returns, including sales and use tax.
• Support property tax reporting and compliance activities.
• Reconcile tax‑related general ledger accounts and assist with month‑end and year‑end close.
• Assist with tax audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
• Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance records.
• Support development and enhancement of tax processes and internal controls.
• Research applicable tax regulations and assist with multi‑jurisdictional compliance.
• Maintain accurate tax documentation and support reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3+ years of accounting, tax, or related professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and account reconciliations.
• CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Utility or regulated industry experience preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Knowledge of state and local tax compliance processes.
• Experience preparing tax accruals and supporting tax filings.
• Ability to research tax regulations and prepare audit documentation.
