Tax Accountant

About the role

The Tax Accountant will join a public‑accounting practice in Hauppauge, NY, reporting to the Assurance Partner. The role involves managing client review and compilation engagements as well as tax projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage one or more client engagements simultaneously, overseeing project success.
• Develop strong working knowledge of each client’s business and build relationships to gather information.
• Document work thoroughly, identify and resolve technical and engagement issues.
• Assist in business development by preparing proposals, budgets, and fee quotes.
• Prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, management letter comments, and Form 990 tax returns.
• Administer engagements, including review procedures, budgets, and engagement letters.
• Create work schedules using effective project‑management techniques.

Required profile

• CPA‑eligible or certified.
• 3+ years of recent review and compilation experience in public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
