Systems Test Engineering Internship – Summer 2027

About the role

This 3‑month paid internship at Philips in New Kensington offers hands‑on experience in verification and validation of electromechanical medical devices. You will work alongside product development teams, learn automated test tools, and gain mentorship in a health‑technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support verification and validation activities for new and updated medical devices and accessories at component, subsystem, and system levels.
• Assist in creating and executing test plans, procedures, and reports while reviewing product requirements for clarity and testability.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and embedded‑software test equipment; collect, analyze, and document test data.
• Identify defects, support follow‑up investigations and regression testing, and contribute to test‑script and method improvements.
• Participate in project meetings, peer reviews, and team status updates, adhering to quality‑system procedures and documentation practices.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Computer, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Coursework, projects, or research involving testing, design, data analysis, hardware, software, or laboratory work.
• Clear communication, effective collaboration, and willingness to learn new tools and technical concepts.
• Ability to meet the minimum physical, cognitive and environmental requirements with or without accommodation.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Python.
• Familiarity with MATLAB.
• Familiarity with LabVIEW.
• Experience using general test equipment for mechanical, electrical, and embedded‑software testing.
