Systems Engineer IV – Advanced Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a senior Systems Engineer IV to design, integrate, and optimize complex semiconductor equipment platforms. You will lead cross‑functional teams to develop advanced electro‑optical, mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems that drive next‑generation chip manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering development for advanced semiconductor equipment, translating market and customer requirements into system architectures, specifications, and performance metrics.
• Conduct architecture trade studies, system design reviews, and define interface requirements, subsystem allocations, and performance budgets.
• Drive system integration during prototype development, subsystem integration, and product qualification phases.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex system‑level issues across hardware, software, optics, controls, sensors, and algorithms.
• Collaborate with project management, product marketing, mechanical, electrical, software, process, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• Define verification and validation strategies, including requirements traceability and performance testing.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of engineering experience in semiconductor equipment, photonics, electro‑optical systems, or related fields.
• Deep expertise in multidisciplinary system development, including optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and algorithmic subsystems.
• Ability to work independently, lead cross‑functional teams, and mentor junior engineers.

What we offer

• Salary range: $140,000 – $192,500 per year
• Full‑time, onsite position in Tigard, OR with relocation eligibility
