Systems Administrator – Windows/Linux & VM Management

About the role

TekSynap is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to manage and secure Windows and Linux environments, including virtual machines, within an air‑gapped infrastructure. The role involves ensuring system reliability, hardening against threats, and supporting federal government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain Windows, Linux, and virtual machine platforms.
• Set up and manage Windows Server services such as Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Apply DISA STIGs and automated tools to harden systems against vulnerabilities.
• Identify and implement performance and reliability improvements.
• Develop solutions to complex problems and document procedures.
• Train junior administrators on best practices and daily operations.

Required profile

• Active Top‑Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Active IAT Level II certification.
• Minimum 3 years of systems administration experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration.
• Active Directory and Group Policy management.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) expertise.
• Automation and configuration management using Ansible.
• Experience with virtual machines and virtualization platforms.
• Knowledge of DISA STIG compliance.
• Familiarity with basic DevOps and software development workflows.
