Systems Administrator

About the role

The Systems Administrator will support and maintain the IT environment of a government agency in Winthrop, Maine. The role focuses on managing network infrastructure, servers, peripherals, and ensuring security compliance while providing day‑to‑day user support.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot hardware, software and application issues directly with end users.
• Administer network, servers and attached devices to maintain performance and security.
• Configure and deploy new laptops, printers and related services.
• Manage user access and roles in systems such as SAMs and DCPS, and conduct access audits.
• Monitor network security using intrusion detection tools like Splunk.
• Provide user education on security standards and best practices.
• Install, configure and support peripherals and building control systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• COMPTIA A+ certification preferred.
• Familiarity with FISMA, NIST CSF and CISA security standards.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 suite, OneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint and Teams.
• Knowledge of business intelligence tools and SQL query writing.
• Experience in a government or regulated environment is a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft PowerShell scripting.
• System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
• Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
• Splunk for intrusion detection and monitoring.
• SQL query development.
• Understanding of FISMA, NIST CSF and CISA compliance.
