System Engineer – Complex Subsystems Design

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions that enable the production of chips and advanced displays. The System Engineer will design, develop, and qualify complex components, modules, and subsystems that support cutting‑edge semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and design complex components, modules, and subsystems, ensuring they meet market requirement specifications.
• Lead architecture brainstorming sessions, evaluate alternatives, and select final subsystem architectures.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis across electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithmic, and software domains.
• Build and qualify prototypes or procure subsystems from suppliers, testing for compliance with specifications.
• Identify and troubleshoot engineering problems related to serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Support system integration during assembly and final testing, and provide remote or onsite assistance to field personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Full‑time availability with willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Eligibility for relocation.
