System Administrator – Hybrid IT Environment

About the role

The Virginia Office of the Attorney General is seeking two Systems Administrators to support a secure, stable, and high‑performing hybrid IT environment. This hands‑on role focuses on disciplined execution of operational processes such as patching, monitoring, backup, and system maintenance. You will work under the Director of Infrastructure & Operations and collaborate with Network Engineering, Information Security, End‑User Services, and Application/Data teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server environments (on‑premises and cloud)
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
• Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online and Entra ID/Azure AD
• Execute structured patching and vulnerability remediation, validate patches, and track compliance
• Implement security controls, MFA, system hardening, logging, and monitoring integrations
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure incidents and participate in incident response
• Administer backup and disaster‑recovery solutions, perform restore testing, and support RTO/RPO objectives
• Follow change‑management processes, execute controlled infrastructure changes, and participate in CAB governance

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical professional with experience in Windows Server and cloud services
• Ability to follow structured operational processes and work under direction of senior leadership
• Collaborative mindset to work with cross‑functional teams including networking, security, and application groups
