Sustainable Development Officer, Regional Liaison, Asia Pacific

About the role

The Sustainable Development Officer will support senior leadership and intergovernmental processes for the Asia Pacific region, based in New York. The role bridges the Headquarters and Regional Office, providing analysis, coordination and liaison functions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare briefing notes, mission packs and meeting read‑outs for senior leadership, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data on sustainable development trends.
• Conduct horizon scanning, monitor intergovernmental processes and support senior‑leadership visits and engagements.
• Facilitate two‑way information flow between Headquarters and the Asia Pacific region, support work‑plan implementation and contribute to knowledge‑sharing across offices.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in sustainable development, economics, public policy or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in sustainable development, policy analysis or development cooperation, preferably with inter‑agency or inter‑governmental work.
• Experience in the United Nations system or comparable international organization is desirable.

Required skills

• Data analytics and data visualization for evidence‑informed planning and reporting.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative research, analysis and presentation skills.
