Sustainability NPI Materials Program Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions that underpin semiconductor and advanced display technologies. The Sustainability NPI Materials Program Manager will drive material strategies for new product introductions, ensuring cost, quality and sustainability targets are met. This full‑time role is based in Santa Clara, CA and works closely with engineering, supply chain and quality teams.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials and manufacturing requirements to suppliers, and perform make‑versus‑buy analyses.
• Lead the Materials Core Team, coordinating product development deliverables through matrix management of buyers, planners and production control.
• Assist in supplier price and delivery negotiations, conduct supplier risk assessments and monitor performance.
• Manage the materials change‑control process, meet cost objectives and resolve quality issues.
• Generate and publish key process indicators, track total landed cost targets and support value analysis for cost reduction.

Required profile

• Demonstrated depth of expertise in materials planning, sourcing and cost analysis.
• Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best practices for product and process improvement.
• Leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams or projects with moderate complexity.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, using analytical judgment to develop innovative solutions.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and suppliers.
