Survey Technician – Recreational Use Survey

About the role
The Survey Technician will conduct recreational use surveys of visitors to state and national parks on the Kenai Peninsula and along the Cook Inlet corridor. Working in the field, you will travel to assigned park locations, interact with recreators, and collect paper‑based survey data for a five‑month study.
Key responsibilities
- Attend required training and complete all pre‑survey preparations.
- Travel by personal vehicle to scheduled park sites and send SMS updates on arrival, start, end, and return home.
- Administer the survey instrument, ask questions, and record responses accurately.
- Photograph completed forms and transmit images as instructed.
- Organize, maintain, and deliver completed survey forms on schedule.
- Maintain mileage logs and submit weekly reimbursement reports.
- Record work hours according to timekeeping procedures.
- Follow safety, waste‑disposal, and communication protocols while working independently in remote locations.
Required profile
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to keep orderly records and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently in outdoor, remote settings.
- Physical capacity to walk, stand, and remain outdoors for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel between sites.
