Surgical/Scrub Tech Educator – Main OR

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a dedicated Surgical/Scrub Tech Educator to lead educational activities in the Main Operating Room. This position combines clinical expertise with instructional development to ensure that scrub technicians and surgical staff maintain the highest standards of patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for surgical and scrub technicians in the Main OR.
• Assess competency of staff through hands‑on evaluations and written assessments.
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and department leaders to identify educational needs.
• Update curriculum to reflect current best practices and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a surgical technologist or scrub technician in an acute care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to teach or train clinical staff.
• Strong knowledge of operating room procedures, sterile technique, and patient safety protocols.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Understanding of operating room workflow and infection control.
• Basic instructional design principles for adult learners.
