Supply Chain Materials Project Manager Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Summer 2027 intern to support its Global Supply Chain team in Santa Clara. The intern will work closely with Supplier Account Managers, Procurement/Materials Managers, and Supply Chain Analytics for a 12‑week period.

Key responsibilities

• Complete supplier requests for quotations (RFQs) and work on obsolescence compliance.
• Prepare supplier profiles and perform part analytics to assign commodities.
• Support Supplier Account Managers with meeting preparation, quarterly business reviews, and capacity reviews.
• Execute buyer functions such as creating, rescheduling, and cancelling purchase orders in MRP.
• Contact suppliers to obtain material status, expedite shipments, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Identify alternate or emergency sources and provide delivery updates to factory stakeholders.
• Mitigate excess inventory through supplier negotiations and conduct MRP and spend analytics.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field with a GPA of 3.0+.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Desire for continuous learning and ability to thrive in a results‑driven culture.
• Valid work authorization for the internship period (no visa sponsorship).

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and data‑analytics capabilities.
• Experience with MRP systems and handling multiple data sets.
• Familiarity with RFQ processing and supplier management tools.
