Supplier Quality Engineer – Phoenix

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support its supply base in Phoenix, AZ. You will work within a cross‑functional Supplier Quality team, handling project‑focused workloads and driving continuous improvement for our suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead quality problem resolution, incident management, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct supplier site audits, including part‑to‑print verification and quality management system reviews.
• Drive systemic supplier performance improvement plans to reduce defects, warranty issues and out‑of‑control SPC conditions.
• Support new product development by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawings and first‑article inspections.
• Collaborate with New Product Introduction teams to ensure design for manufacturability and supplier involvement.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of relevant experience in materials, industrial or manufacturing engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, negotiate, and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Willingness to develop expertise in OEM, BTP and special processes such as coating or cleaning.

Required skills

• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and compliance improvement.
• Root‑cause analysis using 8D, Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
• Supplier auditing and quality management system evaluation.
• First‑article inspection and engineering drawing interpretation.
