Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that all externally supplied products, materials and services meet Sandvik’s stringent quality, delivery and performance standards. Based at the Rotary Drilling Division headquarters in Alachua, Florida, the SQE works closely with Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers to prevent defects, manage risk and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.

Key responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification, onboarding and approval activities, including capability assessments and audits.
• Define and enforce supplier quality requirements, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs such as PPM, defects, escapes and audit findings, and analyse trends to identify risks.
• Drive corrective actions (SCARs), conduct root‑cause analysis and verify effectiveness using 8D, DMAIC, A3, Fishbone or 5 Whys.
• Partner with suppliers on development plans to improve process capability, yield and reduce cost of poor quality.
• Participate in engineering change activities, PPAP/APQP validation and assess supplier readiness for new product introductions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on supplier selection, performance reviews and escalation decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in supplier quality engineering or a related manufacturing quality role.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and supplier audit processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead corrective‑action initiatives and apply structured problem‑solving methods.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and external suppliers.
