About the role
Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Supplier Engineer IV to lead supplier quality, technical development, and operational excellence initiatives across its machining and contract manufacturing supply base. The role partners with engineering, global supply chain, manufacturing, and supplier leadership to improve quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and risk for semiconductor capital equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and develop performance plans to enhance quality, delivery, capacity, and operational excellence.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for machining and contract manufacturing suppliers, driving accountability and performance improvements.
- Conduct supplier assessments, technical audits, and manufacturing process evaluations, including PFMEAs, control plans, and first article inspections.
- Support new product introductions by assessing supplier readiness, qualification plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on supplier quality and manufacturing initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in supplier engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience supporting machining, fabrication, precision manufacturing, or contract manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities.
Required skills
- CNC machining, welding, fabrication, precision component manufacturing.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T.
- PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, Quality Management Systems.
- Root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, RCCA.
- Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) and PMP project management.
