About the role
Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Supplier Engineer (E4) to lead supplier quality, technical development, and operational excellence across its machining and contract manufacturing supply base. The role partners with engineering, global supply chain, manufacturing, and supplier leadership to improve quality, delivery, cost, capacity and risk for semiconductor capital equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and develop performance plans to enhance quality, delivery, capacity and operational excellence.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for machining and contract manufacturing suppliers, building strong relationships and driving accountability.
- Conduct supplier assessments, technical audits, and manufacturing process evaluations to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support new product introductions by assessing supplier readiness, qualification plans and risk mitigation strategies.
- Analyze supplier performance metrics and create executive‑level dashboards and presentations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in supplier engineering, supplier quality or manufacturing engineering, preferably with machining, fabrication or precision manufacturing suppliers.
- Proven ability to lead corrective actions, root‑cause investigations and continuous‑improvement projects.
Required skills
- CNC machining, assemblies, welding, fabrication, precision component manufacturing.
- Review of engineering drawings, GD&T, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP.
- Structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, RCCA.
- Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) and PMP or equivalent project‑management experience.
