Supplier Engineer IV

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Supplier Engineer IV to partner with New Product Development and Introduction teams. You will ensure engineering drawing requirements are clear, drive supplier involvement, and support the creation of next‑generation semiconductor and display technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Work with New Product Development teams to ensure integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and communicate expectations to suppliers.
• Participate with New Product Introduction teams to involve suppliers in specification development and promote design for manufacturability.
• Conduct supplier selection to build a competitive supply base in quality, cost, delivery, and technology.
• Perform supplier technical audits, evaluate performance, and drive continuous improvement.
• Resolve quality problems, manage incidents, and lead root‑cause and corrective actions.
• Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products and recommend materials for cost, lead‑time, and risk improvements.
• Support cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply markets.
• Source new technologies from qualified suppliers for product development and improvement.

Required profile

• Experience with machining and complex mechanical/electrical assemblies.
• Demonstrated conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Knowledge of best practices, integration with other areas, and awareness of competition.
• Ability to act as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and lead small projects.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, able to analyze complex issues and make judgments.
• Ability to influence a range of activities across teams and work within broad guidelines.
• Effective interpersonal communication, able to explain difficult information and build consensus.
