About the role
Applied Materials seeks an experienced Supplier Engineer III to lead supplier quality, technical development, and operational excellence across machining and contract manufacturing suppliers supporting semiconductor capital equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and develop performance plans.
- Serve as primary technical interface for machining and contract manufacturing suppliers.
- Lead problem‑solving activities using 8D, DMAIC, and RCCA methodologies.
- Conduct supplier assessments, technical audits, and manufacturing process evaluations.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, PFMEAs, control plans, and first‑article inspections.
- Support new product introductions by assessing supplier readiness and risk mitigation.
- Analyze performance metrics and create executive‑level dashboards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in supplier engineering, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience supporting machining, fabrication, precision manufacturing or contract manufacturers.
- Knowledge of semiconductor capital equipment or high‑tech manufacturing preferred.
Required skills
- SEM, EDS, XRD and advanced material characterization techniques.
- ASQ, AWS or NDT certifications.
- CNC machining, welding, fabrication and precision component manufacturing.
- GD&T, PFMEA, Control Plans, First Article Inspection and quality systems.
- Problem‑solving methods: 8D, DMAIC, RCCA.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- PMP certification or demonstrated project‑management experience.
