About the role
Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Supplier Engineer (E4) to lead supplier quality, technical development, and operational excellence initiatives across machining, forging, sheet‑metal and contract manufacturing supply bases.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the technical contact for assigned machining, forging and contract manufacturing suppliers, building strong relationships and driving performance improvements.
- Assess CNC machining, forging, laser cutting, punching, bending, welding and dimensional control processes to ensure supplier readiness and technical compliance.
- Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives, develop performance plans and drive improvements in quality, delivery, capacity and cost.
- Conduct supplier assessments, technical audits and manufacturing process evaluations to identify risks and opportunities.
- Lead cross‑functional projects with Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Procurement and Manufacturing to support new product introductions and capacity expansions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proven experience supporting machining, forging, sheet‑metal or contract manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with internal and supplier leadership.
Required skills
- CNC machining, forging, laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, dimensional control, process capability.
- PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP.
- Structured problem‑solving methodologies: 8D, DMAIC, RCCA.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- PMP or demonstrated project‑management experience.
What we offer
- Salary range: $116,000 – $159,500 per year
- Location: Austin, TX
