About the role
The company seeks a Supervisor of Safety, Hygiene and Environment to lead the implementation and monitoring of occupational health, safety and environmental programs at its coffee lyophilization plant. The role ensures compliance with Mexican regulations and internal standards while fostering a culture of prevention.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety, hygiene and environmental rounds to identify risks and unsafe conditions.
- Implement and supervise preventive measures, procedures and controls for high‑risk tasks.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, determine root causes and follow up corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with NOM‑STPS, NOM‑SEMARNAT and other applicable legal requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSSC 22000).
- Maintain up‑to‑date records, permits, indicators and regulatory reports.
- Control waste handling, water and energy consumption and other environmental impacts.
- Coordinate cleaning, hygiene and sanitation programs for the facility.
- Train personnel and contractors on safety, environment, PPE use and emergency response.
- Organize safety brigades, drills, committees and civil‑protection activities.
- Manage the area budget and procure PPE, equipment, supplies and specialized services.
- Generate performance indicators and drive continuous‑improvement actions.
Required profile
- Engineering degree (Industrial, Environmental, Chemical, Industrial Safety or related); professional title and license desirable.
- Minimum three years of experience in similar roles within industrial or manufacturing plants.
- Experience supervising staff and contractors, handling high‑risk work, and supporting audits and inspections.
- Preferred experience in the food industry.
- Leadership, preventive focus, analytical thinking and strong communication skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Mexican occupational safety regulations (NOM‑STPS).
- Knowledge of Mexican environmental regulations (NOM‑SEMARNAT).
- Internal auditor competence for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
- Waste management and environmental impact monitoring.
- PPE selection, management and procurement.
- Budget management for safety and environmental programs.
