Supervisor, Contract Construction

About the role

The Supervisor, Contract Construction leads daily field and administrative functions for gas distribution infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, timely, and high‑quality installation, restoration, and replacement work across South Jersey.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for pipe and meter installations, restorations, and related construction activities.
• Supervise and support field personnel, including company hourly employees and contracted crews.
• Plan, prioritize, and assign resources to meet project deadlines and operational goals.
• Develop and manage daily and weekly work schedules, balancing crew assignments and workloads.
• Review and approve labor, payroll exceptions, and time‑off requests.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to align on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Monitor job progress, ensure accurate documentation in billing, construction orders, and inspection reports.
• Oversee invoice processing, job costing, and financial tracking.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and support skill‑development initiatives.
• Lead and participate in pre‑construction, status update, and contractor review meetings.
• Manage field inspections and complete required reports.
• Respond to operational issues and emergencies during normal working hours.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising field personnel in gas distribution or utility construction.
• Strong leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements for gas infrastructure.
• Familiarity with construction scheduling, inspection processes, and job costing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction orders and billing records.
