Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing

About the role

The Supervisor of Central Sterile Processing leads the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment. This full‑time position ensures the department operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily sterile processing activities, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution.
• Manage staffing, provide orientation, and coordinate continuing education for team members.
• Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment required for operations.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements.
• Act as liaison between the operating room and other hospital departments.
• Identify and recommend quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Monitor internal controls and ensure adherence to university policies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or licenses as required by the department.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage performance, provide feedback, and conduct evaluations.
• Strong team‑leadership capabilities and experience fostering a collaborative work environment.
