Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Supervisor for its Central Sterile Processing department. The role leads the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments.
• Oversee staffing, provide orientation, training and continuing education for department personnel.
• Develop, implement and update departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for sterile processing.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting, licensing and University policies.
• Act as liaison with the operating rooms and other hospital departments.
• Identify and recommend quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications as required by the department.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in sterile processing or a related clinical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage performance, provide feedback and conduct evaluations.
• Experience in training and developing staff.
• Strong team‑leadership capabilities and ability to work collaboratively.
