Summer Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering Internship 2027

About the role

Alcon is offering a 10‑12‑week summer internship for students interested in mechanical and biomedical engineering. Interns will work on real projects at the Fort Worth location, gaining hands‑on experience in product development for eye‑care technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Create rapid prototypes using CAD, 3D printing, and mechanical assembly.
• Support injection‑molding setup, process development, and machine operation.
• Design and improve custom tabletop equipment for laboratory and research use.
• Evaluate metrology methods, measurement accuracy, and update SOPs.
• Develop mechanical systems that integrate with metrology equipment and robotic arms for automated workflows.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited university for at least one semester before and after the internship.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, biomedical, biomechanical, manufacturing, industrial, plastics engineering or a related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
• Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities or projects.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
