About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is offering a ten‑week Summer Analyst internship in its Markets Group, based in Chicago. This junior‑level position provides undergraduate juniors with hands‑on experience supporting the implementation of monetary policy and the analysis of financial markets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing the size and composition of the Federal Reserve System’s balance sheet in line with FOMC directives.
• Monitor and analyze financial market developments for policymakers and key stakeholders.
• Support debt issuance and debt management activities on behalf of the U.S. Treasury.
• Provide foreign exchange and account services to the U.S. Treasury, foreign central banks, and international agencies.
• Contribute to research on financial stability and market trends.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate junior pursuing a degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with an interest in monetary policy and financial markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented, onsite environment.
