Summer 2027 Supply Chain Materials Project Manager Intern (Austin, TX)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering, is seeking a Summer 2027 intern for its Global Supply Chain department in Austin, TX. The intern will support Supplier Account Managers, Procurement/Materials Managers, and Supply Chain Analytics over a 12‑week period.

Key responsibilities

• Complete supplier requests for quotations (RFQs) and work with suppliers on obsolescence compliance.
• Prepare supplier profiles and present them to management.
• Perform part analytics to assign parts to the correct commodity family.
• Interact with suppliers on cost‑reduction opportunities and support quarterly business reviews.
• Execute buyer functions such as creating, rescheduling, and cancelling purchase orders per MRP.
• Call suppliers to obtain material status, expedite shipments, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Identify alternate or emergency sources for material and provide delivery updates to factory stakeholders.
• Mitigate excess purchase orders and inventory through supplier negotiations.
• Conduct MRP and spend analytics to identify optimization opportunities.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous learning.
• Valid work authorization for the internship period (no visa sponsorship).
