Summer 2027 Software, Data & AI Engineering Internship

About the role

Alcon is offering a 10‑12 week summer internship in 2027 for students interested in software, data, and AI engineering. Interns will work on real projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and receive mentorship to help advance Alcon’s mission of improving vision worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Build scalable AI/ML and data‑pipeline solutions using data engineering, MLOps, automation, and cloud‑native technologies.
• Use Python and SQL to explore, clean, transform, and validate data, creating reusable analytical datasets or model features.
• Develop C# or C++ software, tools, and next‑generation architectures for visualization and surgical‑console products.
• Create an AI‑ready laboratory knowledge framework that connects lab systems, electronic lab notebooks, instrument data, and study data.
• Support cybersecurity operations by monitoring security alerts, analyzing events, and assisting with incident response.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited university for at least one semester before and after the internship.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data/analytics, AI/ML, IT, information systems, HCI/UX, or a related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
• Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities or projects.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. permanently (F‑1 visa with CPT is acceptable).
• Available for a full‑time, 10‑12‑week summer internship.
