Sub Investigator (NP/PA) for Clinical Trials

About the role

Hawthorne Health is looking for a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) to serve as a Sub‑Investigator on sponsor‑initiated clinical trials at our Gadsden, Alabama site. You will work under the Principal Investigator to ensure study compliance, participant safety, and high‑quality data collection.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Principal Investigator in overseeing trial conduct, ensuring adherence to protocol, GCP, ICH, and FDA regulations.
• Provide medical oversight, conduct patient assessments, physical exams, medical histories, and eligibility screenings.
• Review laboratory results, ECGs, and other diagnostics, and support medical decision‑making for adverse events and protocol deviations.
• Document study data accurately and timely, and communicate with sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and regulatory bodies as delegated.
• Manage investigational product accountability, storage, and administration per protocol.
• Participate in site initiation, monitoring, audit, and inspection visits.

Required profile

• Current NP or PA‑C license, qualified to treat adult and pediatric patients.
• Experience as Sub‑Investigator on at least three sponsor‑initiated trials.
• Strong knowledge of ICH‑GCP, FDA regulations, and ethical requirements for clinical research.
• Excellent clinical judgment, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with clinical trial management systems (CTMS).
• Experience using electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
