About the role

Biology Peer Mentors (BioPMs) support students enrolled in Introductory Biology I & II and Cell Biology courses at East Texas A&M University. They lead interactive study sessions, help clarify concepts, and promote effective study habits.

Key responsibilities

Organize and lead three 60‑minute interactive study sessions each week.
Participate in weekly team meetings and maintain communication with the supervising faculty member.
Complete required training before the semester starts and attend BioPM team and faculty meetings as needed.
Join faculty‑led review sessions during lab hours.
Promote and advertise BioPM sessions to students and assist them in building confidence and study skills.

Required profile

Earned an A‑ or higher in the relevant biology course(s).
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
