Student Accessibility Specialist

About the role

The Student Accessibility Specialist provides academic and personal support to undergraduate and graduate students with a range of disabilities. Working within the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, the specialist ensures that accommodations are implemented effectively and that the Testing Center operates smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Determine and implement appropriate accommodations for students with learning, physical, and psychological disabilities.
• Maintain a caseload of registered students, conducting regular check‑ins, providing resource referrals, and documenting interactions in the Accommodate system.
• Manage the Testing Center schedule, coordinate exam accommodations, and serve as proctor, reader, or scribe when needed.
• Supervise student and part‑time staff working in the Testing Center.
• Monitor emerging assistive‑technology solutions, train students and staff, and produce accessible course materials in alternative formats.

Required profile

• Experience working with students with disabilities or in a disability‑services environment.
• Strong organizational and case‑management skills.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with faculty, students, and staff.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a campus setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with assistive‑technology tools and software.
• Experience using the Accommodate case‑management system (or similar platforms).
