Structural Pest Inspector – State Government

About the role

The Georgia Department of Agriculture is hiring a Structural Pest Inspector to enforce the Structural Pest Control Act and related regulations across multiple districts in the state. The role involves conducting routine inspections, investigating complaints, and providing technical guidance to pest‑management professionals and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site inspections and comprehensive investigations to assess compliance with the Structural Pest Control Act and other applicable laws.
• Investigate and coordinate responses to complex pest‑related complaints, determining compliance status and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed written reports documenting findings, conclusions, and potential impacts.
• Communicate technical information, rules, and procedures to industry stakeholders, regulated entities, and the public via phone, in‑person, and written formats.
• Maintain accurate records of technical assistance activities and complete required departmental forms and reports.

Required profile

• Vocational or technical degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, pest control, entomology, or a related field.
• Residency within one of the assigned districts (e.g., Walton, Clarke, Oconee, etc.).
• Ability to travel throughout the designated district(s) to conduct inspections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
