Structural Inspector

About the role

Wilson Engineers is seeking an experienced Structural Inspector to join its Tempe, Arizona office. The role involves on‑site inspection of construction projects throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review project plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of each project.
• Provide on‑site construction inspection for water and wastewater projects across the Phoenix area.
• Coordinate in the field with owners, contractors, and third‑party material testing agencies.
• Communicate effectively with structural engineering staff supervising work in progress.
• Prepare daily reports documenting construction progress, changes, and as‑built conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Structural Inspector, Field Engineer, or similar role.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, quality‑control measures; water/wastewater construction experience is a plus.
• Experience with construction submittals, shop drawings, and RFI coordination.
• Minimum one ICC certification (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel & Bolting, Structural Welding) and willingness to obtain additional certifications within one year.
• OSHA 30‑hour training.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus but not required.
