Structural & Disaster Exposure Engineer

About the role

ResiQuant is building AI‑driven tools that give insurers and asset managers precise, actionable insights into building vulnerability. As a Structural & Disaster Exposure Engineer you will expand the engineering intelligence that powers these systems, creating the ground‑truth data and logical frameworks that enable accurate risk assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze building imagery and property documents to build comprehensive datasets that teach AI how expert engineers evaluate structures across U.S. regions.
• Work closely with AI and backend engineering teams to embed structural expertise into the product and ensure scalable accuracy.
• Support customer success by fielding technical questions from insurance clients.
• Define failure‑mode and vulnerability frameworks for earthquakes, hurricanes, wildfires, and other hazards.
• Review and validate AI‑generated structural assessments, continuously improving model performance.

Required profile

• 2–6 years of structural engineering consulting experience, preferably in retrofit design or forensic investigations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Deep knowledge of U.S. building codes, permits, and regional construction practices.
• Technical understanding of building failure mechanisms during disasters.
• Enthusiasm for AI and a founder‑mindset in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to relocate to San Francisco and work onsite five days a week.
