Structural Analyst P3

About the role

Join Oceaneering’s team supporting NASA’s JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As a Structural Analyst you will work on the Structures Stress and Fracture Analysis section, applying your expertise to flight hardware, ground support equipment, and test support equipment for human spaceflight and deep‑space programs.

Key responsibilities

• Support structural analysis tasks for NASA/JSC customers, reviewing requirements for flight hardware, GSE, and test equipment.
• Perform classical hand calculations and determine margins of safety.
• Create and run finite‑element models using PATRAN, FEMAP, or MSC/MARC, applying loads and boundary conditions.
• Post‑process results, calculate safety margins, and prepare detailed analysis reports.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical issues and assess parts for fracture control per NASA‑STD‑5019 and fastener/joint assemblies per NASA‑STD‑5020.
• Apply and interpret NASA‑STD‑5001, NASA‑STD‑5005, and related standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience performing structural analysis on NASA spaceflight hardware.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to pass a government background investigation.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work occasional overtime or a 9/80 schedule.

Required skills

• Stress analysis (hand calculations) and finite‑element modeling.
• Proficiency with PATRAN, FEMAP, MSC/MARC.
• Familiarity with NASA standards: STD‑5019, STD‑5020, STD‑5001, STD‑5005.
• Experience with NASGRO fracture analysis tool.
• Strong oral and written communication; proficient with MS Office.
