Stationary Engineer III – Full‑time HVAC Operations

About the role

The University of Tulsa is seeking a full‑time Stationary Engineer III to join its Central Plant team. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for routine and emergency operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air‑conditioning, and other mechanical power equipment across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, start, stop, and monitor central plant equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, compressors, and exhaust fans.
• Adjust and schedule building systems via Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, and Trane Summit control platforms.
• Perform preventative maintenance, conduct weekly building checks, and generate work orders for non‑routine tasks.
• Respond to temperature adjustment requests during events and address HVAC calls from apartment residents.
• Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), scheduling work orders and assignments.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Limited First Class Stationary Engineer’s License from the City of Tulsa (Unlimited preferred).
• Ability to read blueprints and control schematics.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lb regularly and 50 lb occasionally, and to work in varied environmental conditions.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of central plant boilers, centrifugal chillers (800 tons or larger), and pumps.
• Experience with building management systems: Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, Trane Summit.
• Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of water treatment and softening systems.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and control schematics.
