State Engagement Director

About the role

Radiant is seeking a State Engagement Director to lead its state and local government strategy as it brings portable nuclear micro‑reactors to market. Based in Washington, D.C., you will work closely with technical, legal and operations teams while representing the company to policymakers, regulators and community stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute state‑level engagement strategies that enable site deployment, permitting and long‑term operation of micro‑reactors.
• Influence legislation, regulations and rulemaking affecting industrial siting, power‑generation permits, grid interconnection and critical infrastructure.
• Lead interactions with state regulators and public utility commissions, representing Radiant in hearings, meetings and industry forums.
• Recruit, manage and coordinate external lobbyists and advisors in priority states, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
• Partner with engineering, legal, policy, communications and operations teams to translate technical concepts into clear regulatory positions.
• Monitor state policy developments and provide actionable guidance to senior leadership while ensuring compliance with ethics, lobbying and disclosure requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in state government affairs, public policy, regulatory engagement or a related field within energy, defense, aerospace or other highly regulated industries.
• Demonstrated ability to influence state‑level policy or regulatory outcomes.
• Deep understanding of state legislative processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong track record of managing external lobbying relationships.
