State Accountant (Level 1‑3) – Georgia

About the role

The State Accounting Office of Georgia seeks qualified accountants at three progressive levels to support statewide financial reporting, ERP oversight, and payroll services. This permanent position offers the chance to contribute to the financial health of a state serving over 10 million citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze financial information and prepare accurate financial reports.
• Maintain and audit accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP, state, and federal guidelines.
• Support the State’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and recommend process improvements.
• Assist in the management of payroll and accounting shared service centers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
• One to two years of professional accounting experience for higher levels, or equivalent experience at a lower level.
• Successful completion of background checks, including criminal, credit, and employment verification.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and residency in Georgia.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
