About the role

Arena Magazine, a high‑quality print and digital publication based in Austin, TX, is looking for an ambitious Staff Writer to help launch and grow its online presence. You will be one of the core writers shaping the editorial vision and delivering compelling stories about entrepreneurship, technology and the American enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Conceive, research, write and publish both short‑form pieces and long‑form feature articles for the website.
• Pitch story ideas, develop approved topics and meet daily and project deadlines.
• Edit contributions from columnists and guest writers to maintain quality and consistency.
• Build and nurture sources, conduct interviews and gather background information.
• Collaborate with the growth team to maximise reach, including work on newsletters and email products.
• Adapt to changing priorities and take on additional tasks typical of a startup environment.

Required profile

• Strong writing ability with clear, engaging prose.
• Self‑starter who can work independently and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to engage with the audience in good faith.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving scope of responsibilities.
• Experience in journalism, business writing, or any platform that demonstrates the ability to distill complex ideas.
