Staff+ Software Engineer – Platform

About the role

Anthropic is seeking experienced software engineers to join its Platform organization. In this role you will independently scope multi‑month projects, drive cross‑team alignment in ambiguous problem spaces, and make architectural decisions that shape how the company builds and scales its AI‑powered products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core service infrastructure, including service mesh, observability, deployment pipelines, and shared libraries.
• Develop cloud‑agnostic tooling, cross‑cloud networking, and multi‑region deployment capabilities to enable multi‑provider operations.
• Own performance, reliability, and efficiency of the Claude API serving path, collaborating with inference and safety teams.
• Build and operate the billing platform that converts product usage into revenue across all Anthropic offerings.
• Partner directly with research teams to productize cutting‑edge AI capabilities.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering large‑scale backend systems.
• Ability to lead complex, multi‑month projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong architectural judgment and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Interest in AI and building platforms that serve both internal engineers and external customers.
