Staff+ Software Engineer – Auth & Identity

About the role

Anthropic is building a reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI platform. The Auth & Identity team owns the authentication, authorization, and identity services that power every Anthropic product, from the API to Claude.ai and enterprise solutions. As a Staff+ Software Engineer you will shape the technical strategy for identity and access across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement credential systems for human users, service accounts, and autonomous agents.
• Build a unified, low-latency authorization engine that routes every access decision with multi-region resilience.
• Develop a first-class identity model for service accounts and agents, integrating with existing auth systems.
• Ensure global distribution and failover for mission-critical services.
• Deepen enterprise integrations, including SSO, SCIM, login policies, and self-service allow-listing.

Required profile

• Proven experience owning high-traffic, mission-critical systems end-to-end.
• Ability to define and drive technical direction across product, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, security, and engineering stakeholders.

Required skills

• OAuth protocol implementation and management.
• Single Sign-On (SSO) and SCIM integration.
• Design of distributed, multi-region systems.
