Staff Software Engineer, AI Platform

About the role

As a Staff AI Platform Engineer at Sapiom, you will shape the technical direction of a next‑generation AI infrastructure platform from the ground up. You’ll work closely with product and engineering leadership to translate emerging AI capabilities into production‑ready services that power autonomous agents at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build the core distributed platform that enables AI agents to orchestrate, execute, store memory, call tools, and coordinate complex workflows.
• Design and implement reliable, secure, and observable infrastructure for enterprise‑grade AI workloads.
• Lead technical design of foundational capabilities, balancing performance, extensibility, and developer experience.
• Establish engineering standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical guidance, and hands‑on collaboration.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience building large‑scale backend, distributed systems, or developer platforms.
• Demonstrated technical leadership at Staff or Principal Engineer level, or equivalent impact.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience building developer‑focused SDKs, APIs, or platform services with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Hands‑on experience with modern AI systems such as large language models, tool calling, retrieval‑augmented generation, or agentic workflows.
• Proven ability to simplify complex technical problems and drive technical strategy while remaining hands‑on.
