Staff Software Engineer (AI Governance)

About the role

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help shape AI governance for developer tooling at Coder. The role sits on the AI Governance team, building and maintaining the AI Gateway and Agent Firewall components that provide audit trails, token tracking, cost control and secure authentication for enterprise LLM usage.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build product features that raise the standard for remote development in self‑hosted environments.
• Create and improve open‑source projects that integrate with VS Code, JetBrains and other developer tools.
• Champion best practices for internal team members and external contributors.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and partners such as JetBrains to deliver key integrations.
• Document system design, implementation and operations for team knowledge sharing.
• Support Coder’s enterprise user base alongside Customer Success teams.
• Work with cutting‑edge AI technologies to deliver seamless developer experiences.
• Rapidly iterate from prototype to production in a highly adaptive team.

Required profile

• 8+ years of full‑stack experience in a professional setting, including at least 1 year writing Go.
• Proficiency building distributed systems in Go.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities with persistence to resolve issues.
• Self‑motivated, creative and analytical mindset.
