Staff Nurse – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

The Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care under supervision. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to monitor and support patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safety and comfort during the critical post‑operative period.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor physical and psycho‑social signs and symptoms of PACU patients.
• Implement therapeutic measures and nursing interventions tailored to each patient’s needs.
• Develop, document, and continuously evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Record progress notes and maintain accurate patient records to ensure continuity of care.
• Communicate patient responses and concerns to the broader health‑care team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to design comprehensive care programs.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to allied nursing personnel and provide guidance as needed.
• Participate in departmental conferences and contribute to the development of nursing standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in New York State.
• Experience in acute care or surgical settings preferred.
• Ability to work under supervision while exercising professional judgment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Knowledge of post‑anesthesia care protocols and safety standards.
