Staff Engineer – AI Factory

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer to join its AI Factory team. You will design and maintain automated testing frameworks, log‑analysis tools, and scenario‑generation pipelines that support autonomous aircraft and simulation platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize Python‑based data analysis pipelines and custom analyzers for simulation logs and performance metrics.
• Create and maintain C++/Python adapters and orchestration wrappers around the Hivemind Forge test system.
• Implement programmatic scenario‑generation scripts using domain randomization to stress‑test autonomy behaviors.
• Analyze simulation logs, rosbags, and network captures to isolate and debug software defects.
• Leverage generative and agentic AI tools to accelerate development of analysis suites.
• Build and deploy Terraform or Kubernetes configurations for distributed test orchestration.
• Write clear developer guides, API documentation, and reusable workspace templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong software development background in Python and experience with data‑analysis libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas).
• Hands‑on experience with automated test orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and container‑based architectures.
• Proficiency with version control (Git), Linux development, and disciplined debugging practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
