Staff Digital Systems Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Staff Digital Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, design, integration, and verification of high‑reliability digital hardware for aerospace and defense missions. This senior individual contributor will work onsite in Phoenix, AZ, collaborating with firmware, software, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams.

Key responsibilities

• Architect FPGA, ASIC, and processor‑based digital hardware for mission‑critical systems.
• Lead full‑cycle digital hardware design, including schematics, interface definition, timing constraints, and design reviews.
• Design, integrate, and verify high‑speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes, LVDS, SPI, and I2C.
• Support board bring‑up, hardware integration, debugging, and system verification using laboratory equipment.
• Partner with PCB layout engineers to optimize signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and manufacturability.
• Develop and review technical documentation, test plans, and verification reports.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience designing complex digital hardware for aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability applications.
• Proven experience with FPGA, ASIC, processor, or SoC‑based systems.
• Strong background in board bring‑up, hardware integration, and lab debugging.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
