Staff Backend / Product Engineer – FinOps & AI Cost Intelligence Platform

About the role

Virtasant is seeking a Staff-level Backend/Product Engineer to evolve its multi‑cloud FinOps platform into a comprehensive cloud and AI cost intelligence solution. The role is fully remote and offers high autonomy, ownership, and direct interaction with product leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build backend‑heavy features for the platform, including AI‑enabled capabilities such as anomaly detection and recommendation engines.
• Develop and productionalise distributed data pipelines that ingest cloud billing, usage, and AI telemetry data.
• Implement reliable systems for backfills, late‑arriving data, and historical reprocessing.
• Create scalable data models and APIs that power customer‑facing analytics and AI cost insights.
• Collaborate closely with Product to translate vision into shipped features, identify blockers early, and iterate quickly.
• Define engineering standards and patterns as the product matures, ensuring reliability, cost efficiency, and clear user value.

Required profile

• Staff‑level backend engineer with a strong focus on product development.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, take significant ownership, and deliver high‑impact features.
• Experience with distributed data systems and cloud cost data processing.
• Passion for turning AI experiments into durable, production‑ready capabilities.
