Staff Accountant

About the role

Normal Computing is seeking a Staff Accountant to build and lead the core accounting function as the company scales across multiple product lines and offices. You will work closely with the Head of Finance to establish robust close processes, systems, and internal controls that support rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close, including accruals, journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
• Design, implement and maintain accounting systems for revenue recognition, KPI reporting and accrual workflows.
• Manage tax compliance, external due‑diligence requests and end‑to‑end accounts receivable and payable.
• Lead process improvements, system enhancements and internal control initiatives.
• Develop an AI‑native accounting capability that leverages artificial intelligence while retaining professional judgment.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably building an accounting function in a high‑growth startup.
• Public accounting background; Big 4 experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Low ego, high agency and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial close processes.
• Experience with revenue recognition, accruals and account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with tax compliance and external audit/due‑diligence procedures.
